Treadmill running, before or after workout?

Running is one of the best form of exercise if you want to burn calories. But several people who go to gyms and fellow workout sessions, wonder themselves that should “I lift or do cardio first?”

Till now there is no such concrete answer given to this question. The thing depends upon your overall fitness goals. If you are looking for some gains, if you are on a weight loss plan or you want to improve.

• Be clear about your goals.

Many people who work out do not have any specific goal. They just take running as a part of their life cause they enjoy doing it. Moreover if you want to increase your speed and durance and running pace then just running may help you.

But if you are the one who has a goal to loose weight or trim your waistline, then you will have to combine cardio with weight training. But there is a section of people present those who are looking for muscle gains and gaining weight. For them cardio session will be different.

• For weight loss.

If you are on a plan where you are looking for losing weight and toning up yourself. Then always remember considering resistance training, first depleting your bodies carbohydrate stores. This will help in encourage in your body towards fat stores in cardiovascular training or running.

In simple words, just perform treadmill running or any other type of cardio workout. After you finish your weight training session.

• Looking for muscle and weight gain.

People who are considering a goal of gaining muscles and healthy weight should avoid too much of cardio. They must have to focus more on weight training and increasing the weights. But having a small treadmill running session before workout as a warmup will surely be beneficial for them.

They should opt for normal cardio or running before workout for short durations, just for warmup. But remember taking slight calories surplus diet as cardio will burn your calories heavily.
