Do rice really a barrier in weight loss process ? Know everything about it !

 


Rice is one of the most widely consumed games all around the world. In fact, in some parts of the world it is a staple food. White rice is refined and high carbohydrate content food. Because of refining most of its fibre content is removed. Several types of rice are available all around the globe according to the climatic and harvesting conditions. Two types of rice are grown worldwide, which include white rice and brown rice. Brown rice is an intact whole grain which contains bran and germ layer. Therefore, these qualities make it nutritious and rich in fibre and active antioxidants. Contrary to this, white rice do not have bran and nutritious germ layers. This is generally done during refining to increase taste and prolong shelf life. So this subsequently results that white rice varieties are almost just carbohydrate content.

• Effect of rice on weight loss program 

Effects of brown rice on weight loss program are quite effective and well established. People who consume whole grains like brown rice in their daily lives show better results in weight loss in comparison to those who don’t. The reason behind this is fibre and nutrition content that these plant compounds contain. During a 12 year human trial study it was revealed that women who take higher amount of dietary fibres from whole grain foods have almost 50% lower risk of major weight gain. It can also be explained in such a way that eating Brown rice over white rice is quite beneficial.

Now moving towards white rice, these studies till now are somewhat controversial and inconsistent. Some researches and studies revealed that eating of highly refined grains such as white rice is a major cause of weight gain and obesity.

• At the same time, many studies do not found any link between white rice or refined grain consumption with weight gain or obesity. In fact, according to them white rice consumption has even less risk of weight gain.

• Based on a study on overweight Korean woman reveals that Weight Loss Diet that includes either white rice or mixed rice per day resulted in weight loss.

Therefore, after checking through facts and figures we can say that both of the rice varieties can be used during Weight Loss Diet. But brown rice have many advantages over white rice, so it is advisable to increase intake of brown rice.

Meanwhile, rice is staple food all around the globe so it’s easily available. This makes one to stick to its Weight Loss Diet plan. So we can conclude that it doesn’t seems anything like rice causing weight gain or loss. But one should use brown rice over white rice because of other health benefits.
