Internet, magazine, are just flooded with several weight loss, advises and claims. Most of them are unproven or are just myths. They do not have any scientific concrete evidence to prove their benefits.

• Weight loss is a linear process.

Most of the people claim and some of them think that weight loss is a linear process. But it is scientifically proven that losing weight is usually not a linear process.

In fact you may lose some pounds of weight during days and weeks but will soon gain the loosed weight. This thing should not be overestimated . Because normal body weight may fluctuate up and down by a few pounds. Some of the factors include just having meal or holding more water content in the body, heavy clothing.

• Just eat less and work more.

Body fat is just a stored energy form in the body. If you want to lose your fat, you need to burn more calories than you intake. This is the main reason that comes to the conclusion that eating less and moving more can cause weight loss.

But health experts in scientific studies reveal that if you make this a permanent lifestyle change. It will severely affect your life, especially for those who have a serious weight problem.

Many people who follow this advice and stop regaining the lost weight due to some physiological or biochemical factor. Even some of them face health issues like weakness, anxiety and even depression . Just because of lack of required amount of diet.

• All type of calories are equal.

Calories, basically a measurement of energy. Although all calories have same energy content. But this surely do not mean that all calorie sources have same effects on your weight.

With the difference in food, there will be a difference in metabolic pathways. So their impacts on hunger, body weight and hormones may be different. Just a common example. Protein calories will not be same as fat or carbohydrate calories.

• Carbohydrates are making you fat.

This do not state that carbohydrates are the cause of weight gain. In fact, whole grain foods that have high carbohydrate content are quite healthy.

• People with more fat content are unhealthy and thin people are healthy.

Although it is the fact that obesity increases the risk of several chronic diseases. But several people who have a good fat content on their body are metabolically healthy.

At the same time several thin people suffer from health issues.

The amount of fat required by body may differ from person to person. This depends upon their lifestyle, environment, work conditions, health issues etc.
