The fat in your cells is form of triglycerides, which are stored fats in the body so that it can produce energy. Before the production of energy, triglycerides have to be broken down into smaller sections called free fatty acids and glycerol.

During a study on 24 people who only exercise for abdominals for about six weeks. As a result, there was no reduction of belly fat.
Another study in which 40 overweight and obese woman took part for 12 weeks. The results that weight training for abdominals has no effect on belly fat. Researchers also found that although some fat loss occur, but it was generalised to entire body.
There are several studies and researches like above mentioned that our scientific evidence is to show spot reduction not beneficial.
So it is advisable to not to waste your time in any type of spot reduction workout programme. Rather, maintain a healthy diet with intense workout programme under a professional expert. Weight training is considered as the best workout programme for reducing fat and gaining muscles.
